Here is a simple image, showing the components of a standard still life composition but partially re-
working the conventional placements of the objects. The viewer's eye is at table level, the chair is
only present in outline, the lemons do not rest in the bowl. And yet nothing seems extraordinary.
How much pushing about of images can we accept before entering the realms of surrealism?
